Membership

Classification of Members

Note: All types of Membership must be approved by the Executive Committee.

  • Patron Members: Individuals / Institutions / Organizations.
  • Life Members: Any person, shall, by making an application in the prescribed manner along with prescribed fee will be offered Life Membership.
  • Ordinary Members: Any person eligible to be a Member of the Institute by paying the prescribed fee will be deemed to be an Ordinary Member.
  • Honorary Members: Eminent persons of standing shall be invited by the Executive Committee to be Honorary Members. Such Honorary Members may attend, guide or otherwise participate in such meetings and other functions and activities of the Institute without voting rights.
  • Associate Members: This Membership is open to such of those who are not eligible for full-fledged membership (e.g.) Students, Lawyers, Architects, etc. (Associate Members will not have any voting rights).

All eligible persons may apply for membership in the prescribed form obtainable from the Institute. All such form shall be accompanied with the fees prescribed. The decision of the Executive Committee shall be final and binding on all applications for Membership.

Cessation and termination of Membership

A Member shall cease to be so:

  • If the Executive Committee concludes by majority that he had brought discredit to the Institute by his acts of Omission and Commission.
  • Upon his death / insanity.
  • When his subscription is due for over 6 months.

Re-Admission

An application for re-admission, from a Member who has ceased to be a Member by virtue of 9 (c) above, shall be treated as a fresh application and disposed of by the Executive Committee.

Objectives

To contribute to the National wealth through enhanced profitability of the industries by creating, applying and promoting best practices of Security, Safety, Fire and allied matter.

The means by which the institute intends to achieve these objectives are:

  • To organize into a professional body of all those who are employed as Officers, Managers and Executives in the field of Security, Safety, Fire Prevention, Industrial Relations, Welfare, Transport, Medicine, Law, Accounting, Production, Engineering, Marketing and any other field where lapses in Security, Safety and Fire may result in loss to an organization.
  • To promote Social and Intellectual intercourse among the members of I.I.S.M. For this purpose, lectures, demonstrations, discussions, seminars, training classes, films, tapes etc. will be utilized for the professional uplift of the members and such training may also be conducted by visiting professionals in the fields.
  • To serve as a Forum for exchange of ideas and experiences, collection and dissemination of information on Industrial Security, Fire Safety and other allied matter specified in para 5 (a).
  • To foster and develop fellow-feeling and unity amongst the Members of I.I.S.M. and others in the profession and allied areas as specified in para 5 (a).
  • To establish and run a library and equip it with books on subjects of interest concerning Industrial security and allied subjects as specified in para 5 (a).
  • To organize conferences, seminars, meetings, discussion, debates, tours, etc. for the promotion and furtherance of the aims and objectives of I.I.S.M.
  • To undertake, bring out, publish and distribute free or otherwise, souvenirs / magazines in connection with Security and allied matter as specified in para 5 (a) of Bye Laws.

Clear and concise written orders are essential.
